We would like to update the IANH member families about the upcoming Diwali program, free computer classes being offered and other events.

Announcement to Diwali Cultural Program Participants from Cultural Secretary

 

Thank you very much for sending in your entries for the Diwali Cultural Program. It's great to see your enthusiasm about the event through your emails. At this point, all entries submitted are "IN".

 

Please send in your music CDs to the following address before this weekend, clearly writing the name of the item in 'black' permanent marker. We'd like to get some additional details about each item so we can print the brochure with proper write-up. Please call Usha Dwarak at this number (603) -889-2080.

A check list for the primary contact on each item

  1. Is the duration of the item less than or equal to seven minutes ?
  2. Are there four or more participants in my item?
  3. Are there non-IANH members participating? ( If so they would need to pay the general admission fee for the event for non IANH members of $ 10)
  4. Have I provided the names and ages of all participants? 
  5. Have I provided the name of the item and some detail on what the item is about?
  6. Have I given my telephone number to the Cultural Committee?
  7. Have I mailed the CD to Usha Dwarak?

Some clarification on participation dues

  1. If you are an IANH member and are going to be performing on the stage, the admission in free. Please make sure that your membership is current.
  2. If you are an IANH member are going to come enjoy the cultural programs and be part of the Garba dance, the admission is $ 5.
  3. If you are NOT an IANH member and are going to be performing on the stage, the participation fee is $ 10.
  4. If you are NOT an IANH member are are going to come to enjoy the cultural programs and the Garba dance, the admission is $ 10

Sponsorship Opportunities at the 2007 IANH Diwali Festival  As a sponsor, you will be recognized at the festival through poster display, stage announcements and publish a message from you in the function guide. You will also receive four free tickets to the festival.

If you would like to sponsor any of the following, please contact Dr. Tej Dhakar as soon as possible:
1. General Sponsor (up to ten) $100
2. Diwali Function Guide (one) $200
3. Cultural Program (one) $500
4. Grand Sponsor (one) $1000

 

Volunteer and Sponsorship opportunities at the Nashua & Manchester  Soup Kitchens 

  • October 21, 2007 Volunteers needed to cook and serve non vegetarian lunch at the  Nashua soup kitchen between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This service is sponsored by IANH member Puneetha Palakurthi. 
  • November 10, 2007 Volunteers needed to serve non vegetarian dinner for the guests at the Manchester New Horizons Soup kitchen between 4 and 6:15 p.m.
  • December 8, 2007 Volunteers needed to cook and serve non vegetarian dinner for the guests at the Manchester New Horizons Soup kitchen between 12 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. This event is sponsored by the family of Prashant Palakurthi.
  • December 16, 2007 Volunteers needed to cook and serve vegetarian lunch at the  Nashua soup kitchen between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. 

Teenagers are welcome to help and claim credit for community hours. Parents can participate  as well. Please contact Barinder Ahluwalia  if you would like to volunteer or sponsor these events.

IANH - SAHELI Initiative: We are pleased to announce free computer classes at Southern New Hampshire University, Nashua NH as part of the IANH Saheli initiative to persons who are looking for opportunities to transform their lives and their families. Read More

Schedule :
8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
English as a second language
10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Basic computer skills
12:15 - 2 p.m.   Immigration help with filling out forms and networking

IANH Volunteers serve dinner at Manchester Soup kitchen

IANH Volunteers gathered at the soup kitchen to serve dinner to more than 125 guests. Youth volunteers Meghna Chandra and Nikhil Polepally  and adult volunteers included Barinder Ahluwalia, Tony Epaphras, Karthi Chandra, and Puneetha Palakurthi. Friday October 19, 2007 Conference conducted by Saheli, Support for South Asian Women and domestic violence Services of Central Middlesex Inc.View Flyer . A Forum to build new community ties: Bridging the Cultural gap to provide effective domestic violence services to the Asian immigrant community.
