Entertainment program at Hillsborough County Nursing Home June 2006

Children from the India Association of New Hampshire (IANH) entertained the guests at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown NH on Saturday June 10, 2006. The variety entertainment program included classical and folk dances from different regions of India. The staff at the Nursing Home made the arrangements needed to accommodate a large gathering of senior citizens who were a receptive and appreciative audience.

Dr.Tej Dhakar welcomed the guests and said a few words about IANH.

Anjana Mangalat opened the program with her delightful performance of "Nimbuda" which set the tone for the show.

This was followed by Madhumita Sriram who performed a wonderful classical dance to the "Brahmam Okate" composition.

Pragnya Iyengar and Anusha Gopal danced to a lively "Piya Piya". This was followed by Avinash Radhakrishnan who entertained the audience with his keyboard rendition of "Uyirin Uyere"."Akh Ladiye" a spirited solo performance by Aamuktha Porika was followed by Varsha Gopal who danced to the popular hindi song "Tu Cheez badi hai Mast". "Rahathula Rahathula" was a feet tapping number by Anjithaa Radhakrishnaa. As the last item of the show Anusha Gopal and Varsha Gopal played "God Bless America" on their violin which had the entire audience singing along with them.

Barinder Ahluwalia concluded the days events by wishing the senior citizens well and promising to be back next year. In the words of Barinder, "we brought a little sunshine to the Nursing home today".
