On Saturday , May 24th, 2008, IANH held a dinner service for the Manchester New Horizons soup kitchen. The team of volunteers included Sudhakar Tadepalli, Meghana Tadepalli, Prabhakaran Thangavel, Ome Prakash Lagisetty, Tony Epaphras, Meghna and Karthi Chandra. They served a meal of Hamburger Helper macaroni & cheese, macaroni tuna salad, green beans, peas, salad, bread, fruit salad, and coffee. The team arrived at around 4 and left by 5:45 p.m. after having served food to over one hundred people.

The guests greatly appreciated the meal and often asked questions about India and the India Association of New Hampshire. The team answered these questions and had a very good rapport with the people they served. In this way, the IANH team established a cultural bridge between these people of Manchester and IANH, and improved its relations with the Manchester community.

IANH Member Sudhakar who was volunteering for the first time along with his colleagues and young daughter said that he had a wonderful time. His daughter said that she would like to come again and again. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm of the younger generation who will be ambassadors of the Indian community in the future.
We will be holding lunch services at the Nashua Soup Kitchen on Sunday June 22 and at the Manchester New Horizons soup kitchen on Saturday June 28. All who wish to volunteer are welcome to come and help build more bridges between the Indian community and the cities of Manchester and Nashua.
The dates for lunch service in the Nashua Soup kitchen for 2008 are June 15 and July 20, Sept 21, Oct. 19 and Dec 21.
