India Association of New Hampshire Public Service group volunteers visited the Nashua Soup kitchen on Saturday May 21, 2005. They cooked hot chili, salad, and pulav (rice with vegetables) and served to over 75 homeless guests. Shelter supplied the dessert. The event was sponsored by Lalba Rani, a member of the India Association.
The volunteers were divided into two groups: cooking team and service team. Lalba Rani, Sudha Sharma, Aparna Kundu, Dimple Mehra, Rajni Aneja, Luv Aneja, Meera Venkatachalam, Arjun Venkatachalam and Barinder Ahluwalia prepared the delicious dishes from scratch. They started the preparation around noon. The hot meal was ready for service around 3:30 PM when the service team took over. Lalba Rani, Ajit Kumar, Raj Jain, and Umang Kumar served the meal.
India Association Public Service group under the leadership of Barinder Ahluwalia organizes several Public Service activities to serve the homeless in the Greater Manchester and Nashua areas. IANH members are enthusiastic about participating in these activities. We plans to expand its service activities to other parts of the state this year.
