Dinner Service Team:

Even the snow storm did not keep away IANH service to our community. Ten members of the IANH Public Service group visited the New Horizon, shelter for the homeless in Manchester on Saturday January 8 to cook and serve hot meal to over 150 guests. These volunteers were divided into the dinner preparation and counter service teams.

Vandana Dhakar, Kala Kumar, Usha Dasari, Umang Kumar, Balaji, and Barinder Ahluwalia of the dinner preparation team started their assigned duties at 10:00 AM. The team prepared lentil vegetable soup, vegetable lasagna, garlic bread, and desert.

Prithvi Kumar, Padma Mathur, Umang Kumar, Narinder Jain, Raj Jain, of the service team set up the table and served the meal at 4:30 PM. The shelter provided beverages, dessert, and garlic bread. Dr. Padma Mathur underwrote the entire cost of material. As always we spend less than one dollar per serving.

Dinner service at the local homeless shelter is one of the Public Service activities. IANH successfully hosted a similar event last summer. Additionally, IANH members donate food and grocery items to the shelter every month. Members donate these items at specific drop off locations in Manchester and Nashua.

Our next dinner service is scheduled for May at the Nashua soup kitchen. I would like to thank all those who volunteered their time in spite of the bitter cold weather. I look forward for your continued support to our future Public Service activities.

Barinder Ahluwalia,

Chair, IANH Public Service Committee
