New Hampshire Indian-American Community Serves Dinner to Homeless, Manchester, New Hampshire, Feb 3rd, 2007
 
India Association of New Hampshire Public Service group volunteers cooked and served dinner to about 150 people at the New Horizon Soup Kitchen in Manchester. They cooked Ziti, Lentil Soup, prepared Salad, and garlic bread. The bread and dessert were supplied by the shelter. The event was sponsored by Dr. Padma Mathur and her family. It was another gratifying experience for the volunteers. Some of the people came for the second and third serving since they get only one meal a day.
The volunteers were divided into two teams. George Bruno, Meyyapan and his father, Swati Gohel, Vandana Dhakar and Barinder Ahluwalia started cooking at 10:30 AM and prepared everything from scratch. The serving team took over about 3:00 PM and the hot meal was served by Dr. Padma Mathur, Prasad Dabbi and his son, Raj and Narinder Jain, Susan, and Barinder Ahluwalia served the meal.
India Association Public Service group under the leadership of Barinder Ahluwalia organizes several Public Service activities to serve the homeless in the Greater Manchester and Nashua areas. Association members are enthusiastic about participating in these activities. |
