IANH volunteers gathered at the Nashua Soup kitchen at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday October 21, 2007 to cook and serve lunch to more than 70 guests. The lunch service was sponsored by the family of Prasad Kalyanapu to celebrate his birthday.
Maureen Byrnes, Puneetha Palakurthi, Aditya Thaduri and Karthi Chandra arrived early to cook the food for the guests. The serving and cleaning crew included Prasad Kalyanapu, Pratheek Kalyanapu and Nikhil Polepally. The team with the help of the resident cook Doug prepared meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and salad.
In addition the volunteers also helped with unloading and storing the produce and bakery items that were donated to the Soup kitchen. The guests ate a wholesome meal of meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, Italian bread , coffee, fruit juices and deserts.
The staff and the guests present wholeheartedly appreciated the service by IANH members. It was indeed and excellent way to celebrate a birthday.
We would like to express our thanks to Doug of the Nashua Soup kitchen, Prasad Kalyanapu and family for cooking and serving the dinner in addition to sponsoring the meal and volunteers for taking their time to help us.
