Responses
from NH Presidential Primary
Candidates to IANH Questionnaire
The
Public Relations committee
sent a
questionnaire containing questions of
special interest to the Indian community to all
democratic and republican NH Presidential
Primary candidates. We received responses from
five campaigns:
Gen Clark,
Gov. Dean,
Sen. Kerry,
Congressman Kucinich and
Sen. Lieberman. The responses are very
revealing of their opinions on US-India
relations.

candidates
IANH Members
respond to Misinformation Campaign against India
On September
28, 2003 Union Leader published an article
on Kashmir that featured two NH Reps. Bob Guida
and Sagir Tahir. The two reps made baseless
allegations against India. Many Indian Americans
found their allegations offensive. We decided to
counter the campaign of misinformation. Ravi Subrahmanyan
a member of the Public Awareness Committee wrote
an opposing editorial countering their
allegations which was published in the Union
Leader on October 8, 2003. Many other Indian
Americans wrote letters to the Editor.
IANH
responds to HCR 16 passed by NH Legislature
In the
beginning of 2003,
a few NH legislators sponsored a one sided
resolution on Kashmir in both houses.
On February
20, 2003
the legislature passed a watered down version of
the resolution
(NH
House Resolution HCR 16).
These legislators visited Pakistan-occupied
Kashmir and an hour-long anti-India documentary
based on their visit was aired by the WNDS TV,
Derry in March.
IANH spent
many hours and prepared a
response which was
sent to all the 400+ legislators and held
a
news conference
on May to denounce the misinformation campaign.
We sent a press release to all New England media
