Last Spring, a few NH legislators sponsored a one-sided resolution on Kashmir in both houses of New Hampshire Legislature. A watered down version of the resolution was ultimately adopted by the Legislature. These legislators visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and an hour-long anti-India documentary based on their visit was aired by the WNDS TV, Derry. In addition, these legislators have been making full use of the media to malign India.
IANH put together a team of interested members to prepare Indian American community’s response to the passage of the Kashmir resolution and to counter the false allegations being made against India. The team spent considerable time and prepared a letter and a position paper and mailed those to all the four hundred plus NH Legislators. Concurrently, team held a News Conference at the Legislature Office Building in Concord. Following the New Conference, many State Legislatures have responded in writing, supporting our position (click hereto see the letters). Since then, we have published an Op-Ed and many letters to the editor in the Union Leader.
