The India Association of New Hampshire organized its annual picnic this year on Saturday Aug 5 at the Kingston State Park in Kingston N.H.
Approximately seventy persons from seacoast to Nashua attended the event and each family brought in a food item. The picnickers busied themselves with a variety of games and entertainment, like cricket and softball besides enjoying a variety of dishes. This event attracted a number of sponsorships. Shishubharati sponsored the park admission for the first sixty seven adults, Gurnam Catering Service provided free samosas for the event and IANH Family Play Group, Ajit Kumar & Lalba Rani, and Narinder & Raj Jain sponsored the snacks, dessert and drinks.
The event also doubled as a general body meeting. Tej Dhakar, Secretary of the association, welcomed all the people. Prithvi Kumar, President of the association dwelt on the general scope of the association’s activities. He then asked the committee members of the association to give details about the areas under their respective charges. Ramesh Shelat, a volunteer for the Public Service committee briefed the audience on the upcoming Homeless apartment restoration project in Nashua. Prateek Kalyanapu read the Youth Group Report written by Asish Andhavarapu. Priyanka, a member of the Family Group briefed the audience on the recent outing to a blueberry farm. Tej Dhakar, Secretary concluded the meeting by thanking the sponsors and the attendees. The general body meeting was followed by two rounds of Bingo. Vandana Dhakar coordinated the Bingo game and Retired Colonel Mahesh Gupta ably conducted the game with his military gusto Prizes were awarded to winners.
This year’s picnic saw residents of various towns of New Hampshire – Nashua, Bedford, Merrimack, Manchester, Exeter – attending. The event gave the members a fun-filled opportunity to mingle with other people and renew contacts.
