During the third week of January 2004, Ms. Niharika Acharya from Voice of America (VOA) Hindi news section visited New Hampshire to cover involvement of the NH American Indian community in Primary politics. Niharika requested an interview with IANH Executive members to be broadcast to audience in India through “Aaj Tak” television channel. A meeting was arranged on Saturday January 24th.

VOA requested a panel type discussion for recording in which the Executive committee members will review the answers to the questionnaire that was sent to the Democratic and Republican Presidential candidates in December 2003. Himanshu Desai, Chair Public Relations committee read the summary of answers by various candidates. The Executive committee members then reviewed them. Patriots Act was the highlight of discussion. The committee members explored ideas as how IANH could help to educate the NH public on Indian culture and values to remove the misconceptions about American Indians as a secluded society. A number of ideas from getting to the school system to Public Service projects were discussed.

Following the panel discussion, Niharika conducted personal interviews with Himanshu Desai and Vandana Dhakar. These conversations were recorded in Hindi to suit the “Aaj Tak” audience.
