The India Association of New Hampshire held its annual fundraiser on March 10, 2007 at the Merrimack High School, Little Theater. It was a good gathering of about 150 people and a wonderful evening of music and dance followed. Manasa Parkala did an excellent job as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The event, billed as the “2007 Grand Variety Entertainment Fundraiser”, was opened by a brief welcome address by Prithvi Kumar, president of the association.
The cultural events began with a beautiful vocal rendition by students of Jyoti Sharma - Pankhuri, Ishita, Alicia and Mitali sang a prayer 'Itni Sakthi Hame' and 'Dinana Dhukhaharan Dev'.
The performances included a good mix of solo and group items.
The Solo performances included delightful items by Madhumitha Sriram who performed a tap dance, Juhi Gupta danced to the song "Chamma Chamma" , Anisha Patel performed a Gujarati Dance choreographed by Jasmine Shah, Shireen Patel's dance was a Meera Bhajan and Sarena Patel performed a Folk Dance. Sucheta Tamragouri entertained us with an excellent performance of "Beethoven" on the keyboard.
Sandhya Sridhar's students presented, "Rag Anurag" a beautiful vocal rendition which comprised of "Mathe Malayadwaja" by Amritha Mangalat and Anjana Mangalat, “Pathithodharini” by Abhinaya Shine and “Ambe Charan” by Roshni Narasimhan.
The group dances of the evening were lively numbers performed with good co-ordination by all the participants. Raju Gandhi, Monica Gandhi, Tamanna Gandhi danced to the song “Rang De Basanti” and Shefali Mangtani and Elisha Shah danced to "Say Na Say Na" from the movie Bluff master . The Nashua Mirchi Group - Mounika Talluri, Harika Talluri, Sahaja Surapaneni ,Varsha Pagidi performed a fast Bhangra Medley Remix while Akshay Sundaram, Anusha Gopal, Ilina Shah, Ranjana Sundaram, Shravani Kumar, and Varsha Gopal danced to "Aaj Ki Raat" from the movie 'Don'.
This was followed by "Deva Ho Deva" by Anisha Patel, Puja Mehta, Krina Shah, Sarena Patel, Janvi Shah, Neelam Shah, Krupa Patel. "Anand Tandav” was another wonderful group dance by Rajal Schrubb, Reena Schrubb, Nikita Yerram, Sateja Paradkar, Priya Ragu, Shyna Patel followed by a duet “Ahista Ahista” by Devina Prabhakar and Sameer Boootwalla. Meghna Chandra and Amritha Mangalat performed a classical dance number -"Anjali" a bharatanatyam piece from Shobana’s Broadway. Anisha Patel, Puja Mehta, Krina Shah, Sarena Patel, Janvi Shah, Neelam Shah, Krupa Patel performed a group dance - "Feelings" and Nidhi Sharma, Devina Prabhakar, Sameer Boootwalla, Monica Gandhi, Tamanna Gandhi delighted us with a medley of Bollywood songs
Uma and Sankar delighted the audience with their karaoke performance of Bollywood numbers.
The Yaadein Group's rendition of a fantastic mix of old and new melodies from Bollywood was fitting finale to this evening wonderful cultural event.
Indira Shelat and Gurman Singh provide a variety of mouth watering delicacies.
Barinder Ahluwalia, Chair, Public Service Committee of IANH spoke to the audience about the various public service activities that IANH was involved with which was the reason for the fundraiser. Karthi Chandra, Vice President of the association delivered the vote of thanks. The evening came to a close with the rendition of national anthems of India and the USA.
